Internal Medicine

Internal medicine deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists and are especially skilled in dealing with patients who have undifferentiated or multisystem diseases processes. Internists often have sub-specialty interest in diseases affecting particular organs or organ systems. They are especially trained to solve puzzling diagnostic problems and can handle severe chronic illnesses and situations. Educating patients on wellness, women’s health, mental health as well as on the effective treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system and reproductive organs, is part of an internist’s job. They help you choose your medical treatments, guide you and stand by your side during treatment and follow up. They are there if you are admitted in hospital and help you receive care and rehabilitate you back into your home and community.
